Quick and easy cleaning for the perfect cuppa

There’s nothing like a great cup of coffee in the morning to start the day. Many of us choose to use filter coffee machines for a fresh, rich taste, but what if the taste we love is being affected by limescale deposits and old coffee lingering in the machine? Oxidised coffee oils can leave a rancid taste in your cuppa, which is why the internal components of coffee machines must be cleaned regularly. But no matter how easy your coffee machine may be to use, they are often very difficult to clean. Luckily Citric Acid is simple to use and will clean the inside of your machine quickly and thoroughly.

Citric Acid is a great natural descaler and cleaner from plant based origins. Citric Acid also dissolves limescale that can damage the heating elements of the machine, and lowers the power consumption of the machine meaning regular cleaning with Citric Acid could prolong the life of your coffee machine.

To clean your coffee machine using Citric Acid, remove the filter and add two tablespoons of Citric Acid to a full machine of cold water. Switch on the machine and let half of the Citric Acid solution filter through the coffee machine, before switching off. This gives the Citric Acid time to work on all parts of the machine. After leaving for 20- 30 mins, switch the machine back on and let the rest of the solution run through the machine. Run the machine twice with clean water to remove any traces of Citric Acid, and enjoy your next cup of coffee! Depending on the hardness of your water and how often your machine is used, this method should be used every 2 – 4 weeks to ensure your coffee tastes flawless.
